Senior Trade Unionist and Member AICC Mr.M.M.Singh Cheema lost his younger Sister Mrs.Dalbir Kaur Kahlon wife of Late Sardar Kultar Singh Kahlon of Sagarpur in Batala. A daughter belonging to widely respected freedom fighters family of officers of village Cheema Khuddi in district Gurdaspur was pioneer in early women education and herself pursued higher education and teaching in her early life from Jaipur.
She died of Cardiac Arrest yesterday during sleep. she is survived by Two Progressive Farmer Sons, Jagbeer Pal Singh Kahlon and Amarbir Pal Singh Kahlon and two Daughters Dr.Neena Rosy Kahlon of GNDU and Miss Minni Kahlon of GNDU Extension Centre Gurdaspur.
Aunt (Bhua Ji) of Chairman Punjab Health Systems Corporation Amardeep Singh Cheema she was known in the area for her humble nature and always encouraging with motivation to all whosoever visited her in social gatherings or hours of difficulty. A god gifted Gurbani lover had Prakash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at her house used to return back to do sewa even iff she was travelling far off in connection with social issues and programs.
She was the force behind encouraging agriculture in modern generation and was sole motivator for doing agriculture activities in prime commercial area of the Batala city where land prices were sky rocketing during last decade.
An icon of women empowerment was source of inspiration for sending her daughter to far of Meerut university to pursue in super specialisation in sociology during height of terrorism in Punjab against all odds and by sheer encouragement and supported by her husband Sardar Kultar Singh Kahlon a senior retired from Excise and taxation department of Punjab.
