DRM expresses grief over sad demise of railway officer due to Covid-19
Railways arrange 214 beds for quarantine at all major stations in Ferozepur division
Ferozepur, June 18, 2020: Expressing his grief over the said demise of Raj Kumar, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, due to Corona positive, Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Agrawal said that he was good-natured and hard working officer with very exceptional talent, who performed record tasks in this transition period with their functions and leadership capacity. His untimely demise caused irreparable damage to the division.
All the officers of the Mandal, employees’ union and association officials expressed deep grief and condolences on his demise.
All those who came in contact with him were investigated for Covid-19 test and only 5 people were found to be corona infected. However, as a precautionary measure and medical protocol, all the people were ordered to do home quarantine. Further, the contact tracing of five positive persons are being identified and examined by June 19. As a precaution, all such people have been advised to work from home.
DRM said, as a part of preparedness to fight with the Corona cases, a total of 214 beds have been arranged for the quarantine at all the major stations of the manda i.e. Ferozepur Cantt, Amritsar, Pathankot Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar City, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Budgam etc.
Appreciating the services of the medical department of the Railways, DRM said, it has done a very good job in this transition period and has been effective in preventing the infection of the Board. During this time, many works were done by the Medical Department like Medical counseling facility has been started for railway and other central employees through video calling at Railway Hospital, Ferozepur. Apart from this, during the lockdown period, 20 major and 27 minor surgeries were performed for the emergency of railway beneficiaries, periodic medical examination of 37 employees and medical examination of 31 new railway candidates were done during the last 3 months. During the lockdown, the line staff of the mandal was examined by the doctors in the special train.
Further, during the last 15 days, about 73 patients were admitted, out of which 12 patients had fever, they were treated at Railway Hospital. In the last 10 days, around 101 RPF employees have been screened who have been given HCQ prophylaxis. Regular FLU clinics are being operated in Ferozepur Cantt, Amritsar and Ludhiana to avoid Kovid infection of railway beneficiaries. The doctors were trained by the scouts and volunteers of the Civil Defense in all the hospitals and health units of the mandal to prepare them for performing Kovid related duties ie thermal screening, dissemination of information in colonies etc.
