503 Corona Care Coaches stationed at different stations in Northern Railway
Covid-19: 15 deaths in Northern Railway, 4 officers of DRM office Delhi quarantined
Ferozepur, June 19, 2020: Northern Railways hospital had received 404 Covid +ve patients from railways and out of which 304 have recovered and discharged. While 10-15 men including one senior officer had died, 4 officers of DRM Delhi Office are home quarantined, confirmed GM-Northern Railways in its FAQs on media interaction released today. However, loss of the exact number of persons could not be confirmed.
The priority of railways is to provide relief to the railway employees and reduce the burden on State government hospitals. As many as 503 Corona Care Coaches have been stationed at different stations in Northern Railway.
Railways known as the life line of India had done a commendable job during the lockdown period by transporting the essential commodities to the needy states besides shifting of migrant workers to various States.
Meanwhile, in the wake of spike in Covid cases in the country, Railways in its preparedness arrangements had paced Covid Care Coaches at different locations redesigned for the Covid patients. Each of these trains and coaches have a standard configuration to suit the patients and medical staff. Railways have arranged security, watering for coaches, power backups and other facilities for the medical staff. But each coach needs to be equipped with necessary things such as oxygen cylinders, dustbins, insulation from heat, conversion of toilets into bathing units, charging of AC coaches etc.
