Chandigarh, July 17, 2020: Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, VP Singh Badnore on Saturday presided over Daily War Room meeting.
The Administrator expressed concern about the rise in number of cases. He appealed the residents to strictly follow the guidelines issued for containing spread of infection. He directed the residents to stay indoor, maintain social distancing and wear masks regularly.
The Administrator also stated that the residents must avoid crowded areas and should not venture out of their homes, unless there is unavoidable work.
He also advised the citizens to self-monitor their temperature and immediately report to local health authorities, if there is any symptom.
He further stated that more restrictions and even curfew could be imposed, in case it is found that the residents do not follow the guidelines issued by the Administration for containing covid.
Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have tested 459 covid samples from Chandigarh, Punjab and Leh, out of which 25 were found positive.
Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they have tested 174 covid samples, out of which 17 were found positive.
Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that they have completed second round of house-to-house screening of entire Manimajra. During the drive, 48,598 people from 2,241 houses were thoroughly examined and 12 suspect cases have been referred for testing. Dr. Dewan also stated that second round of screening in Sector 16 and 32 has been started. 14 teams comprising 30 health workers have been deputed for the work.
Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 169 active cases. Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 93 active cases. Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 148 active cases.
The meeting was attended by Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh, Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police and AK Sinha, Finance Secretary at Raj Bhawan.
The Administrator also interacted with KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.
