Nawanshahr, June 25 , 2016:
The issue of diatribe by AAP leaders - Bhagwant Mann, MP and Gurpreet Ghuggi - against the school teachers have started to seethe like a cauldron. Both the comedian turn politicians and the AAP's Punjab Dialogue head and a senior journalist Kanwar Sandhu, have tried to diffuse the situation by posting their video clips on social networking sites. But, the damage control exercise is not going down well.
While the different teachers unions are finding it difficult to digest the logic given by the AAP leaders in their video clips posted on social network sites, the opponent political parties are trying to gain maximum political mileage from the present situation.
The PPCC Chief, Capt. Amarinder Singh has already condemned the utterances of the AAP leaders against the school teachers. He has also dared AAP Chief Kejriwal to clear his stand on the issue.
Charanjit Singh Brar, OSD to the Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal, on Saturday, said that the jesters could not offer anything positive to the people of Punjab. " The comedian turn politicians - Bhagwant Mann and Gurpreet Ghuggi are yet to realise the seriousness associated with the politics. It is to serve the people with vision and dedication", said Brar while adding that the Comedians could not befool the people by their derogatory satires on the intellectual class.
"No one could deny the fact that teachers are the nation builders and government schools across the country have contributed a lot in this nation building process", said Brar while referring to Mann’s observations in the video in which he accused his own father, a school teacher, of getting a fat salary without teaching his students. It was possible that Mann’s father failed to fulfill his responsibility as a teacher by not teaching his pupils, but comparing him with the entire teaching community in the state and terming it a community of work-shirkers could not be termed appropriate by any standards.
“Board’s results shown by government schools this year bear a testimony to this,” said Brar who also slammed Ghuggi for using threatening language against government school teachers in the video in the presence of AAP state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur. He said Ghuggi’s statement clearly showed that AAP, on coming to power, would resort to exploitation of teachers as was being done by managements of private schools.
While lambasting the AAP leaders for holding the political opponents for making it a issue to tarnish their image, Brar said that these comedians could befool and entertain the masses with such comments but they should refrain from commenting in this manner against the educated classes.
