LOK SABHA POLLS -2024: Denied ticket, disgruntled AAP leader Fouji Angrez Singh Warwal to contest as Independent from Ferozepur
HARISH MONGA
Ferozepur, April 21, 2024: As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced all 13 candidates in Punjab for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 on June 1, the party in Ferozepur is facing rebellion as ticket aspirant Fouji Angrez Singh Warwal has decided to part ways with the party and contest as an Independent after he was denied ticket for Ferozpeur Lok Sabha constituency.
SAD has won in the previous elections 10 times, BSP 2, Congress 5 and Independent one time from Ferozepur Lok Sabha Constituency.
Expressing his concern, Fouji Angrez Singh said, despite performing my duty with full diligence during the last decade, he has been denied the ticked for Lok Sabha elections and the ticket has been given to from ‘Aam to Khaas’ man. On getting the open support from the people of the area, chanting the slogan “Tiger Abhi Zinda Hai”, he announced his decision to contest as an Independent, before the huge gathering of the Rai Sikh community, at Mamdot from all over the constituency including Malout, Muktsar, Abohar, Fazilka, Jalalalabad, Balluana, Guruharsahai and Ferozepur Urban and Rural. He said, he had been seeking to contest the election in the constituency for the last one and a half years, but the party has given a ticket to Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar MLA from Muktsar. Akali Dal Badal's Vice President Punjab Kashmir Kaur also announced to stand with Fouji Angrej Singh. Various institutions like the Christian community and ex-servicemen union also announced support for him.
While the other major political parties are yet to announce their candidates with the announcement of Ferozepur candidate for Lok Sabha Polls 2024 as Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar, it will not be easy to win the seat by AAP with the dissatisfaction mode of its leaders, especially when community vote bank of around 5 lac is available in Ferozepur Lok Sabha constituency.
With the wave of AAP during the last Assembly elections, the party has great expectations in the Lok Sabha elections also when there is a break in the BJP and SAD alliance after 26 years of bonding and the credit is likely to the other major political party Congress who is yet to announce its candidate.
