New Delhi, September 26: Narendra Modi Prime Minister of India has left Frankfurt for New York. He will address the UN General Assembly tomorrow. Modi will begin his day tomorrow with paying tributes at the 9/11 Memorial and museum, followed by meeting United Nations Chief Ban Ki Moon at UN Headquarters. The Prime Minister will address the 69th session of United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, around 8:00 pm Indian Standard time. The theme of the UNGA is delivering and implementing a transformative Post-2015 development Agenda. There will be a number of high level events on the sidelines of the inaugural session on issues like climate change, population and development, indigenous people and UN peacekeeping. Media reports at United Nations, India will call for concerted multilateral action to meet the challenges like fragile global economy, terrorism, Ebola health crisis, climate change and poverty. India has been actively engaged with the UN member states on the issues on the agenda of the 69th United Nations General Assembly. It is likely to make constructive contribution to negotiations on the post 2015 development agenda which is going to replace the Millennium Development Goal. It will also actively indulge in discussions on Financing for Development. India is also expected to press for an early reform of united Nations, expansion of the Security council and a text based process for negotiations in the Intergovernmental Negotiations. Attempts will also be made to re-invgorate the draft resolution on enlargement of the Council and working methods. In the post-2015 developmental agenda which is going to define the key international development priorities for the coming decade, India will press for making poverty eradication as the central objective. It is hoped that this will address the issues like housing, affordable energy, health care, education, employment and infrastructure gaps across the globe. India is now much more to the world than its cuisine. It is one of the fastest emerging power the world wants to engage with.
