Manohar Lal Khattar CM Hry
Chandigarh, April 4, 2016: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that most of the decisions taken by the previous Congress Government during last one or two years of its 10 years rule were politically motivated and these included reservation for five castes including Jats. Manohar Lal was addressing the leaders and representatives of Jat and five other communities, who called on him to thank him for getting The Haryana Backward Classes (Reservation in Services and Admission in Educational Institutions) Bill, 2016 passed, here on Monday. The Chief Minister said that the previous government had politicized the issue of reservation and added that even maximum decisions they took during their last one -two years were either politically motivated or had vested interests. On the other hand, he said that the present government took the decision of giving reservation in its first year itself and got passed a Bill for the same in the beginning of its second year. The present government has, during its more than one year, taken decisions without any political consideration. He said that during its first year tenure, the present government has taken several decisions for the benefit of people belonging to all sections of the society. He said that while compensation amounting to about Rs 1100 crore was distributed among the farmers on account of damage to crops due to unseasonal rain and hailstorm last year, Rs 967 crore were distributed as compensation to cotton growers for crop loss due to white fly recently.Comparing with previous Governments, he said that during the last one year, the present government has distributed compensation amounting to Rs 2200 crore on account of loss due to natural calamities whereas in 16 years from 1999 to 2014, only Rs 1600 crore were disbursed as compensation. Describing his government as pro-farmer and pro-poor, the Chief Minister said that schemes have been prepared for the welfare of the poor including those living Below Poverty Line (BPL) so that they do not get deprived of basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter. Earlier, representatives of six communities honoured the Chief Minister by presenting him with a shawl and turban and mementoes. They included Randhir Golan of Ror Community, Sarpanch Ram Kumar Tayagi from Tyagi Community, Sardar Gurmeet Singh from Jat Sikh, Balbir Singh from Mulla Jat, Ashok Bishnoi from Bishnoi community and Dalbir Jaglan from Jat Community. Virender, Sarpanch of village Pharmana in district Sonipat and Karam Singh, Sarpanch, village Pundri announced to donate Rs 51,000 and Rs 21,000 respectively towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
