HS Hanspal, former PPCC chief
Patiala, July 27, 2016:
Senior Punjab Congress leaders have asserted that the party was heading towards a landslide victory in Punjab under the leadership of Capt Amarinder Singh. “This will be a historic mandate and party will be getting two-thirds majority in the coming elections”, said HS Hanspal, senior party leader and former PCC president.
He was addressing a well attended public meeting organised in Patiala (urban) assembly segment represented by Ms Preneet Kaur on Wednesday. The meeting was attended among others by Ms Kaur, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Hardayal Singh Kambhoj, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Dr Amar Singh.
Hanspal informed the audience that it was Akalis who were responsible for the unfortunate phase of militancy in the State which was ultimately finished by the Congress. He quoted Dr Manmohan Singh who described CaptAmarinder Singh as having 'modern mind'.
The former PCC president said, the party programmes were getting an immense and overwhelming response. He disclosed that in the first phase party had already covered about 90 constituencies with all the senior leaders including Capt Amarinder Singh, Ms Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and others campaigning all over the state. He said, the first phase will complete on August 8, when all the 117 constituencies will be covered.
Speaking on the occasion, former union minister of state for external affairs, Ms Preneet Kaur said, the overwhelming presence and participation of youngsters and ladies, cutting across different sections of the society have reaffirmed their faith in the Congress party.
She said, she was touched and overwhelmed by the unprecedented and spontaneous response of the workers, especially by the women and youngsters. She gave a clarion call to oust the Akali-BJP misrule to save “Our Daughters and Our Sons”.
Rana Gurjit Singh, MLA, asked the audience to aggressively campaign for Capt Amarinder Singh who he said can only lead Punjab out of the mess created by the Akalis' misrule of 9 years. He also called upon the senior Congressmen to tell their children how dynamic, progressive and fearless rule remained in the State under Capt Amarinder Singh.
Dr Amar Singh exhorted the ladies to be more active and participative as the reforms and corrective measures that Punjab needs today are normally initiated from home.
