Ferozepur, January 12, 2017: Come elections, the credentials of candidates of all political parties are scrutinized to dominate each other with one or the other issue. Davinder Singh, son of SAD MP Sher Singh Ghubhaya from Ferozepur, has entered into Date of Birth controversy which could make him ineligible to contest the Assembly elections.
Devinder Singh – IIT graduate from Roorki - who recently joined the Congress on account of ignoring his father loyal to SAD party and had vacated seat from Jalalabad for safe entry of Sukhbir Singh Badal in Punjab Vidhan Sabha - had been facing opposition from old timer Congress leaders from Fazilka for giving him ticket for the Assembly elections being held on February 4.
Devinder Singh Ghubaya is not of 25 years age making him eligible to contest the Assembly elections. The Congress workers had appealed to the Congress High Command not to consider the current elections.
The date of birth mentioned in the birth certificate of Davinder Singh is December 13, 1992 while in various other certificates it is indicated as July 31, 1993. How, he could be eligible for contesting elections according to the date of birth mentioned in the Voter Card, as May 30, 1993.
Some Congress leaders have claimed that Davinder's matriculation certificate mentions his date of birth as July 31, 1993, which would rendered him ineligible to contest the elections as he would be under 25 years of age on February 4 — the date of polls.
A certificate issued by DAV Model School, Sector 15, Chandigarh, also mentions Davinder's date of birth as July 31, 1993. Besides, his age has been mentioned as 22 years even in the voters' list issued in 2016.
Davinder Singh Ghubaya was not available over mobile despite number of attempts and sending a text message.
