Thursday, January 19, 2017: Jagmohan Singh Kang flagged off the rally today canvassing about important issues like drug terrorism in Punjab and the menace it’s creating for the future generations. He urged people and supporters to come to a consensus over the issue and make joint efforts to make the state drug-free. Punjab has had a drugs problem for many years; the drug mafia has grown in number and size in the last 10 years. Akali Dal which is part of the incumbent Akali-BJP coalition has time and again come under scanner for its alleged links with narcotics mafia. Addressing public in his rally, Jagmohan Singh Kang said, “Drug addiction is a serious problem in the region of Punjab. One of India’s most prosperous states, the fertile land of the five rivers and nation’s bread basket has to struggle with a serious problem that is now reaching epidemic proportions. It isn’t just people from the fringes of society that are addicted but students from “good families” are often caught in the toils of drug addiction. The reasons for widespread drug addiction in Punjab are unemployment and frustrated economic expectations. The fact that there is a steady supply of drugs from across the border is another reason and the incumbent Government itself is under the scanner. I urge people to come forward and make true the dream of Captain Sahab in eradicating drug problem and making Punjab a drug-free state. The party will work tirelessly towards Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojana ensuring a job to every household.”
Speaking on the occasion, Sarpanch Balkar Singh, Sarpanch Bhagat Majra, Kurali-Kharar said, “We are confident that Captain Sahab will form a Government in Punjab as we feel the overall public positive sentiments are tilting towards Congress. Punjabi voters have had enough, SAD contradicts itself blatantly: it has denied the scale of the state’s drugs problem, while at the same time boasting of how many treatment clinics it has opened. AAP will also struggle for seats in Punjab as it has mounted so many problems for itself. Kejriwal is unable to handle Delhi, I have my doubts on how will he handle Punjab?”
