Mustfa back to his post after Razia expresses displeasure , takes up the case with CM
Chandigarh, April 4, 2017: Punjab government has revoked its order of posting Mohammad Mustafa as DGP, Home Guards after his minister wife Razia Sultana took up the case with Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
A 1985-batch IPS officer Mustafa, who was also given the additional charge of DGP, Human Rights, was asked to join as DGP, Home Guards only two days back. He was unhappy over this as he had been eyeing a plum posting to rehabilitate him honorably. Mustfa suffered a lot and kept out of Punjab Police HQ due to the congress connection of his wife during the last ten years of Badal regime. He is expecting some fair deal from the congress government .
He will, however, continue to work as DGP, Human Rights.
The CM is learnt to have told Razia Sultana that he was under impression the post of DGP, Home Guards was to the liking of her husband.
The development has again brought into focus the question of rehabilitating those officers who were dumped to insignificant post during the decade-long rule of Aklai-BJP combine.
Third timer MLA,Razia is the first Muslim woman minister of Punjab. As a minister of state, she holds independent charge of PWD (B&R), Social Security, Women and Child Development departments. She has been elected twice from Muslim-dominated constituency Malerkotla.
