Fatehgarh Sahib, April 25, 2017: To create legal awareness among the senior Citizens, District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Citizen Welfare Charitable Trust organised a camp at Senior Citizen home Bassi Pathana today. Pasrshant Verma, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority presided over. large number of senior citizens, Advocates attended the camp.
Addressing the gathering he said that the senior citizens are our assets and important section of our society. It is not only our legal but moral duty also to extend them all sort of help and facilities. He apprised the senior citizens about their rights and the new laws enacted for their security and legal rights. He said they can get free legal aid and sort out their disputes by way of mediation, loak adalats and compromise. He said they are are entitled to get free legal aid in courts, which includes counsel fee, processing fee and other miscellaneous expenses. He said that people belonging to SC/ST, children, women, mentally and physically handicapped, industrial workers, victims of natural disasters, victims of trafficking in human, under custody and any persons can also get the facility.
