DC Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma hands over papers of land transfer to AAI officers
Jalandhar, 25th May, 2017: (APS Brar) Taking a leap forward towards starting of work on Civil Air Terminal at Adampur Airport, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today handed over the papers of transfer of land to the officers of Airport Authority of India (AAI).
The Deputy Commissioner handed over the papers of more than 36 acres land to Manager Engineering of AAI Simardeep Singh, which has been recently acquired by the state government. It may be recalled that the state government has acquired this land for the prestigious project at a rate of Rs 37 lakh per acre and the compensation to the tune of Rs 16 crore has already been disbursed to the legitimate owners of the land.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner further said that this project would act as a major catalyst for the development of Doaba region besides facilitating the NRI brethren to stay connected with their roots in their motherland. He said that once operational this airport would save the time, energy and money of the NRIs and other commuters aspiring to travel from the region to other parts of the globe to and fro. Varinder Sharma said that this airport would prove to be a big boon for state in general and Doaba region in particular.
He also said that in another major breakthrough the Public Works Department (PWD) has also submitted a detailed proposal for the widening and strengthening of the already existing dedicated approach road to the Airport at a cost of Rs 33.85 lakh. Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rajeev Verma.
