AAP to stage ‘dharna’ outside Amarinder’s residence
Dismiss Rana Gurjit from cabinet to make enquiry meaningful, Khaira
Chandigarh, May 29, 2017: The belated inquiry ordered by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh into the mining scandal appears to be a tailor made exercise to absolve the accused Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh.
AAP MLA from Bholath Sukhpal Khaira on Monday stated that his party was of the firm opinion that if Rana Gurjeet Singh continues to be a member of cabinet, the said inquiry can never be free, fair and impartial.
The Minister must resign forthwith or he should be dismissed from the cabinet pending inquiry or else the entire exercise would appear to be meaningless and a farce, said Khaira.
AAP also urged Justice JS Narang, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Capt. JS Randhawa and the other accused to clarify if they have ever remained in a lawyer-client relationship.
If Rana Gurjeet Singh has remained a client of Justice JS Narang in his capacity as a Counsel or vice versa, it would raise many doubts of this inquiry being fair and impartial, he asked adding the above stated parties should come under oath to clarify their roles as lawyer-client relationship if ever.
Meanwhile, the AAP leader said his party would stage ‘dharna’ outside the residence of the CM on Tuesday 11 am on the issue.
AAP also reminded the Congress party of its double standards as they had vociferously rejected the Justice Jindal Commission to probe the role of the then Education Minister Maluka on the grounds that he has not resigned from the cabinet.
The Congress had also staged a ‘Dharna’ to pressurize the then Badal government to sack the Minister but why different yardsticks now?
Khaira expressed apprehension that the inquiry has been set up after giving ample time to the accused Minister to do a cleanup job of his and his company’s accounts before any legal scrutiny
