Chandigarh, June 23, 2017: H.S. Phoolka, Leader of Opposition, Punjab Vidhan Sabha called the action taken by speaker of the Punjab Assembly on Thursday as unlawful, unethical and against the rules of assembly.
Mr. Phoolka submitted the motion in the assembly today for passing out the resolution seeking action against the desecration of turban and insult to Dalits. The speaker did not conceded the demand and did not allow to do so. The AAP MLAs walked out in protest and held session outside the assembly.
In the resolution passed by MLAs outside the assembly,
1. Desecration of turban and insult to Dalits & women were condemned,
2. Black money looted by sand Mafia during the previous Akali Government to be recovered
3. Condemning the Chief Minister and other Congress members for holding session while turbans of AAP MLAs were lying on the floor of the house.
4. Banning of entry of media in the assembly was condemned.
Speaking about the incident which happened in assembly on Thursday Mr. Phoolka said that speaker did not suspend any AAP MLA by name. As per the rule, MLA can be suspended by name only. But, it was not done. There was no notice on the entry gate of the Vidhan Sabha. So, all MLAs went inside and sat quietly on their seats. The speaker said that all AAP MLAs are suspended and adjourned the session. During the time of adjournment, marshals came inside and manhadled the MLAs and threw them out. During it, turbans of MLAs got tossed down, clothes of Lady MLAs were torn and MLAs were treated as culprits. After the forcible removal from assembly and beating up of MLAs, then the speaker suspended MLAs by name.
