Reiterate Amarinder government’s commitment to community’s welfare
Rs 1.5 crore aid for Malerkotla Eidgah, Manpreet Badal, Navjot Sidhu extend Eid greetings
Malerkotla, June 26, 2017: Punjab ministers Manpreet Badal and Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday announced Rs 1. 5 crore for Eidgah here as a token of goodwill towards the Muslim community on the joyous occasion of Eid.
Extending greetings on the occasion, both reiterated their government’s commitment to safeguard the community’s interests and upholding the communal harmony in the state.
They assured the gathering to convey the demand of granting the district status to Malerkotla to the Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and lend their support to this demand.
The cabinet minister and local MLA Razia Sultana had raised this demand on the behalf of the community and the people of the constituency.
Manpreet Badal told the huge gathering about budgetary allocations made by Amarinder government for the community this fiscal.
These included Rs 3 crore for setting up Urdu Academy, Rs 10 crore for graveyards and extending benefits of different social welfare schemes of the state government for the community.
Navjot Sindu announced Rs 50 lakh for the Eidgah from his funds and also assured to fulfil the promise made by the state Congress government to establish a medical college at Malerkotla.
The cabinet minister and local MLA Razia Sultana thanked Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Finance Minister Manpreet Badal for taking decisions in the state budget for the welfare of the community.
The management committee of the Eidgah felicitated all three ministers on the occasion.
DGP Human Rights, Punjab Mohammad Mustafa, Deputy Commissioner Amarpartap Singh Virk, SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu, other senior government officials, prominent Muslim personalities and a large number of community members were present.
