Chandigarh, July 21, 2017: The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission (PSSCC) has taken strong notice in a matter pertaining to delay in the supply of free textbooks to the SC students of 1st to 10th Standard.
A meeting in this regard was today held here under the Chairmanship of the Chairman of the commission Rajesh Bagha with the officers of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Education Department and Welfare Department.
During the course of meeting, the PSEB presented the same reasons as in the previous meetings and said that it didn't had the sanction for supply of paper which accounted for the non-printing of the books and there is a possibility of the books being printed by September end.
PSSCC Chairman took a very strong notice of the matter and directed the PSEB to ensure speedy supply of books so that the studies of the poor students remained unaffected.
The Chairman and other members decided to have a meeting with a committee formed for the purpose of paper purchase on August 9, 2017 to arrive at an alternative arrangement concerning the printing of books.
