Fatehgarh Sahib, July 21, 2017: 71st Independence Day will be celebrated with great enthusiasm at Mata Gujri College stadium on 15th august. All the departments of the Govt. along with NGOs have been assigned the duties to make it a grand success. The residents will be provided fool proof security and the anti National and social elements will be dealt severely, said Kanwal Preet Brar Deputy Commissioner and Alka Meena SSP, while addressing a joint meeting of district civil and police officials called to make the arrangement here today.
DC said that after unfurling the flag, Chief guest will be given guard of honour by the contingents of Punjab Police, Home Guards and NCC cadets all the departments will take out tablues depicting the achievements and the various welfare schemes initiated by the Govt. for the people. She said that Chief Guest will apprise the people about the sacrifices made by freedom fighters to get the independence and highlighted the importance of this Day and to strengthen it further we must follow the path of love, brotherhood and communal harmony for the development of our society and country as shown by our great martyrs and Gurus.
She said that after the message the school students will present impressive cultural program. the needy will be handed over sewing machines and wheel chairs to handi capped. Besides this the prominent personalities, out standing sportsmen and participants in cultural activities will be honoured.
Alka Meena SSP said that to strengthen the sense of security among the residents on the eve of Independence Day, the local police will took out flag march in the town. The police officials, personnel and Home Guard Jawans will create awareness among the people and the shopkeepers to remain vigilant and to inform the police immediately if they came across any unidentified and unclaimed vehicle or article. the police will take all preventive measures to maintain law and order and to nab the anti social elements. she said that on the eve of important days certain miscreants take the benefit of crowd and indulge in snatching, looting and robberies. She said that police will intensify the patrolling and special police parties will be deputed for night patrolling. Besides this nakas on all the roads will be erected and surprise checking of vehicles will be ensured.
She said that police is committed to protect the life and property of the citizens and urged the people to co-operate as without their co-operation nothing can be achieved.
