Post abolished, DTOs asked to surrender official vehicles
Chandigarh, August 17, 2017: The state government has asked the erstwhile District Transport Officers (DTOs) to surrender official Innova MUVs and drivers allotted to them.
The instruction in this regard was sent to them by the office of the State Transport Commissioner (Ministerial Car Branch) in the wake of the notification for abolishing the post of the DTO in Punjab comes into force.
The DTOs concerned of Barnala, Fazilka, Fatehgarh Sahib, Kapurthala, Muktsar Sahib, Mansa, Moga, Nawan Shahr, Pathankot, Rupnagar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Bathinda, Patiala and Ferozepur have been asked to follow the instruction on urgent basis.
The Punjab Cabinet had, in its first meeting , decided to abolish the post of the DTO as part of the reorganization of the state transport department. Their work has now been entrusted to the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs).
