Special drive under “Roshni” scheme to start from September 20 : DC Thori
100% cataract patients of district to be covered under this scheme
Specialised camps to be organised in different villages

Barnala, 18 September 2017: Deputy Commissioner Barnala Ghanshyam Thori has informed that the District Administration is committed to make Barnala district "Cataract Free". For this purpose, a special drive under new scheme "Roshni" has been started by the District Administration. Under the "Roshni" Scheme, specialised screening camps for patients would be organised in different villages of Barnala district, starting from September 20, 2017, whereas the operations would be done free of cost at Civil Hospital, Barnala.
These screening camps would be organised jointly by District Red Cross Society Barnala and Health Department Barnala. Mr Thori said that very soon, 100% patients of Barnala district would be covered under this scheme.
While chairing a meeting in this regard today, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori stated that under the "Roshni" scheme, six ophthalmic officers, namely Charanjit Singh, Karamjit Singh, Yograj, Raj Kumar and Shingara Singh, Suresh Rani, would be organising these screening camps in five health blocks of the Barnala district. Dr Avinash Bansal, Dr Indu and Dr would be conducting surgeries at Civil Hospital, Barnala.
He said that during these camps, the doctors would be screening the patients for cataract and if any person needs to be operated, then the operations would be carried out totally free of cost at Civil Hospital, Barnala. He said that the District Red Cross Society Barnala would bear all expenses of patients such as medicines and of operation.
He further informed that on September 20, 2017, specialised screening camps for Cataract would be organised at Barnala's Rahi Basti, Bhadaur and village Aspal Kalan, on September 22, 2017 at villages Kot Dunna, Maur Nabha and Mehal Kalan, on September 23, 2017 at villages Khuddi Khurd, Pandher, Rajian, Alkare, Jangiana and Mehal Khurd, and at Daddahoor Basti Barnala, on September 25, 2017 at 25 Acre area of Barnala, village Bhagtupura and Talwandi, on September 26, 2017 at villages Ghunas, Dashmesh Nagar Barnala, Attar Singh Wala, Talwandi, Bhoore and Kubbe, on September 27, 2017 at villages Kalal Majra and Ugoke, on September 28, 2017 at village Moom, on September 29, 2017 at village Mehta, Beehli, Kharku Singh Wala, Badbar, Bhaini and Mehraj.
