Gurdaspur, October 2, 2017: Former Akali Minister Sucha Singh Langah has ceased to be primary member of the Akali Dal. He had earlier reported to have resigned from all the party posts and membership of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC).
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) spokesperson, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema told babushahi.com that Langah had tendered resignation from the primary membership of the party as well along with other party posts. His resignation had been accepted by the party president Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Known as the Akali heavyweight of Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency, the resignation by Langah ahead of the October 11 bypoll of this very constituency is a big setback for the BJP-SAD candidate.
He was recently booked by Gurdaspur police on rape charges by a woman.
