Sukhbir Badal at indefinitely extended dharna at Harike Pattan on Thursday night
Chandigarh, December 7, 2017: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal seems to have taken a sudden liking for Kejriwal's style often mocked at by opponents including Akalis as dharna brand of politics.
The nigh time photographs of the Akali Dal president leading indefinite dharna by way of road blockade at Harike Pattan bear striking resemblance to the images of Kejriwal who had also camped on a Delhi road at night as a mark of protest during his previous term as Chief Minister.
Much like in the same fashion, Sukhbir Badal made personal presence at the dharna, which was continuing at Harike Pattan, Ferozepur district till 9.30 pm when this report was being filed.
A party spokesman here said the SAD president, who was camping at Harike Patan after addressing a dharna at Manawala in Ferozepur on the issue extended the ongoing dharna at Harike Pattan indefinitely.
Braving a cold December night, the presence of SAD president at the dharna venue is being perceived as the right move to boost morale of his party workers facing alleged Congress onslaught.
Serving an ultimatum to the government to withdraw all "false" cases against his party men and countermand polls at four places, he said that in case the government failed to accept their demands immediately, the SAD would be forced to extend its agitation beyond Harike Pattan.
He also demanded registration of cases against Congress leaders who had allegedly attacked Akali workers on Wednesday and indulged in arson. He alleged the local police including DSP, Zira and concerned SHO facilitated murderous attack on SAD leaders.
The SAD president also demanded immediate transfer of Bathinda Zone IG, MS Chhina whom he accused of ordering false cases against party leader.
