Ferozepur, December 12, 2017: Kamal Sharma, Executive Member, National BJP Committee and former Punjab BJP President today condemned the statement of State Congress President Sunil Jakhar that the cases registered against SAD leaders under Section 307 – attempt to murder – of the IPC and for holding dharna and disrupting traffic on the national highway still stand and won’t be withdrawn.
Kamal Sharma was in the Press Club today to congratulate the club members on the 4th Foundation Day celebrations on Monday which he could not attend due to some other engagements. He was accompanied by Jugraj Singh Katora, BJP leader Balwant Singh Rakhri Chairman Block Samiti and Ashwani Grover, President, Municipal Council,Ferozepur.
It is pertinent to mention that there was also a firing incident at Mallanwala injuring Akali leader over filing of nomination papers at Mallanwala on December 6. In protest, the Akali leaders and .workers had sit on dharna, in Ferozepur, led by Sukhbir Singh Badal, former Dy.CM and Bikramjit Singh Majithia, former Cabinet Minister during SAD-BJP alliance government, against the excesses of the police and non-cooperation by the district administration for denying the No Objection Certificates – NOCs – to the Akali workers for filing the nomination papers for MC polls at Mallanwala and Makhu.
Kamal Sharma said I admit that Congress has been given a remarkable mandate by the public but Congress is afraid of its defeat during the MC polls just after six months of its coming to power, that is why resorting to such actions.
When the leaders and workers had gone to the Observer to apprise about the non-issuance of NOCs by the officers, the ‘gundagardi, by the Congress was before us and available on the social media. With this attitude, I think, Congress has won but democracy lost because of not having proper documentation for filing nomination papers.
On asking about the Akalis and BJP candidates have not filed their nomination because of fear of defeat and getting its publicity with dharnas, Kamal Sharma said, I think, Captain should honour his responsibility instead of levelling irrelevant charges.
However, its impact could be known only after the result of the elections, he further said.
