State level lan waiver function on January 7 at Mansa

Over 46,000 farmers of 5 districts to get loan waiver certificates
Chandigarh, January 6, 2017: Total 46555 small and marginal farmers of five districts of Punjab will get certificates waiving their loans up to Rs 2 lakh on Sunday at Mansa under the first phase of waiver scheme.
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will be the chief guest at this state level loan waiver function.
The loans availed from cooperative banks will be waived under this, informed Vishawjit Khanna, Additional Chief Secretary (Development) and DP Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperatives, Punjab her in an interaction with mediapersons.
The remaining farmers will avail this loan waiver in a phased manner as per the notification issued earlier.
The process of waiving the outstanding loans of nationalized banks and then private banks up to Rs lakh will be initiated in the next phase, they added.
At the Mansa function, 50 farmers each from Mansa, Bhatinda, Faridkot, Moga and Muktsar Sahib will be formally handed loan waiver certificates. The same will be distributed among the remaining of total 46555 farmers by the concerned authorities in their respective districts.
Special Principal Secretary to CM, Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, MD Mandi BOARD Amit Dhaka and MD Cooperative Bank, Dr Batish were also present at the media interaction.
