I am 100% innocent: Vikas Barala
Chandigarh, January 12, 2018 :
Tears welled up in the eyes of Vikas Barala and his mother as he touched her feet and embraced her after the family paid obeisance at a temple. Vikas visited the temple on way home immediately after being released from custody on Friday evening in the much hyped Varnika Kundu case. The High Court had granted him regular bail a day earlier.
“When you know you are innocent, and have not done anything wrong you don’t fear anything. My unflinching faith in God and concern for my family’s honour saw me through the five months I spent in custody. I would now like to concentrate on my law studies and try to make up for the five months lost,” said Vikas in these first comments on his release.
Admitting that his initial reaction of being arrested again after being bailed out in the case was one of anger and disbelief, he said “Knowing well that I am 100% innocent, I calmed myself during my custody and convinced myself to keep a positive frame of mind. My routine during the custody was to offer my prayers and study.”
Declining to say anything further, Vikas said he would like to come before the media at an appropriate time.
