65 companies including MNCs to offer 3000 jobs to applicants

The much awaited second edition of Mega job fair, launched under Ghar Ghar Naukri scheme, kicked off today from DAVIET amid massive response from students and companies.
The mega job fair, a flagship program of state government, would be held for 4 days in educational institutions of city where 65 companies would offer 3000 jobs to the students from 9 states of the nation.
While inaugurating the mega Job fair, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar sharma said that the biggest dilemma faced by the students is to choose the career after 10th or 12th. However, he said these kinds of job fairs would definitely provide guidance to the students for their better future.
Remembering his college days Mr. Sharma said that the biggest cause of worry for students was to get placement during their study and the fair would provide common platform to the companies and students, which would be a win-win situation for industrial units and students.
Urging the students to sharpen their skills to compete at global level, he said that there is no alternative to the hard work and keeping in view their productive time the students must grab the opportunities with both hands.
He also asked the students for maximum use of mobile app launched to register the students for job fair. It may be mentioned here that the Punjab government has already removed the time line for registration and establish special help desks at the Job fair sites.
Meanwhile Deputy Director Employment Genration , Mrs Sanjeeda Beri has informed that more than 65 companies including MNCs like UAE Exchange, Videocon, PNB Met life, Max life, Ralson India,Bajaj Allianz, Paytm, Just Dial selected the students for recruitment. On the first day of fair more than 1800 students took part in the placement process, out of which 535 were shortlisted by the various companies, she added.
Dr Manoj Kumar, Principal of Dav insititute of engineering and technology and various Representatives of DAV group, Captain Inderjeet Singh Dhami, Assistant director youth services were also present on the occasion.
