Jaspal Atwal Invite: Trudeau to take action, Modi Govt to probe Atwal’s visa issue
New Delhi, Feb 22, 2018 : Taking serious notice of the dinner invite issued to convicted NRI Jaspal Atwal , Canadian Prime Minister has announced to “ take action against the person responsible” for the invite. On the other hand Government of India has announced tp probe the issue from all angles including the visa granted to Jaspal Atwal to visit India.
Under heavy attack from Canadian and Indian media, Trudeau on Thursday said that he would take action against "the person responsible" for inviting Khalistani Jaswal Atwal to two of his official events in Mumbai and Delhi. This controversy has created an awkward situation for Trudeau in the middle of his India visit. Jaspal Atwal was convicted for trying to kill an Indian minister in Canada in 1986, and was sentenced to 20 years.
"We take this very seriously. The individual in question should have never received an invitation. The person and department responsible will take full responsibility for his actions," Mr Trudeau said.

Talking to media persons at Delhi he further said “Obviously, we take this extremely seriously. He should never have received an invitation. As soon as we received the info we rescinded it, a Member of Parliament had included this individual. “
Meanwhile, Ravish Kumar , spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs of India said that the Atwal issue will looked into from all angles include the his visa issue . He said they would look into this issue from the black list angle also.
