Kurukshetra, March 21, 2018: An FIR has been registered against the government officials in the death case of radical Sikh activist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa.
The villagers and the Sikh organisations protesting over his deathrelented after assurance given by the authorities for action against those officials who allegedly created a situation that led the deceased to take the extreme step.
Khalsa had on Tuesday climbed atop water tank at his native village Thaska in Kurukshetra district of Haryana and jumped to death. He had demanded release of the Sikh prisoners allegedly languishing in different jails of the country even after completing their prison sentences.
The family of the deceased and the villagers agreed to cremate the body after the assurance. They had earlier blocked the road demanding action against the officials allegedly responsible for the death.
The deceased left behind a note stating that his son would be sole claimant of his property not his ideology.
Prominent among those present included the radical Sikh leaders Dhyan Singh Mand, Mohkam Singh and Wasan Singh Zaffarwal.
A four-member panel of doctors conducted the postmortem.
