Congress, Akali Dal urge Manpreet to drop surname ‘Badal’ for their own reasons
Chandigarh, March 21, 2018: Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal would do well to drop surname ‘Badal’ from his name, suggested Congress MLA Sukhjinder Randhawa.
The suggestion drew support from the Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal though for different reasons.
Speaking on Governor’s Address during the ongoing Budget Session of Vidhan Sabha, Randhawa commented that the Finance Minister should do away with surname ‘Badal’ as its use was no way honourable due to alleged acts of commission and omission associated with Badals.
So much so, the FM should also drop this surname in his Passport and other documents, he added.
When asked during the press conference in Vidhan Sabha complex, Akali Dal president and its legislature party head Sukhbir Singh Badal endorsed this suggestion giving his own logic. The FM should stop using this surname because no one from Badal clan ever submitted to the Congress like him.
