Haryana DGP BS Sandhu honours CWG medallist cops with cash awards

Chandigarh, April 19, 2018: Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) B S Sandhu on Thursday honoured four outstanding sportspersons of Haryana Police who did the state and nation proud by winning one gold and three silver medals in recently concluded Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, Australia.
Vikas Krishan, DSP had bagged gold medal in boxing, Mausam Khatri, and Babita Phogat, both Sub Inspector (SI) had won silver medal in wrestling. Similarly, Seema Antil, SI had made the state and country proud by bagging silver medal in discuss throw event.
DGP Sandhu congratulated all the players and added that it is matter of pride that Haryana police personnel are not only participating in national and international sports events but also made their identity in country’s medal tally. He said that all these four players were recruited in Haryana Police under Sports Policy of the State government.
He also presented a cheque of Rs five lakh to gold medalist Vikas Krishan and Rs three lakh each to silver medalists namely Mausam Khatri, Babita Phogat and Seema Antil.

DGP Sandhu also announced that the players of Haryana Police, who would bag gold, silver and bronze medals in the upcoming Jakarta Asian Games, would be awarded with prize money of Rs 10 lakh, Rs 7 lakh and Rs 5 lakh respectively. This amount would be given on behalf of the Police Department.
Others present on this occasion included, Director General Police Headquarter, KK Mishra, Additional Director General of Police (Crime), P.K. Aggarwal, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Mohammad Akil, Inspector General of Police, Law and Order, AS Chawla and other senior officers of the Police Department.
