Ferozepur, May 15, 2018: The police have booked 10-15 unidentified persons under Sections 353, 186, 332 and 149 over rough up of policemen on the visit of Sukhpal Singh Khaira, AAP leader of the Opposition on Monday.
Khaira had come to Ferozepur to meet two women, who have been sitting on a fast unto death, opposite the DC Office since April 23, staking claim to 26 acres of land at village Jhoke Hari Har. While activists of BKU Ekta Sidhupur have been camping in the support of the two women, another counter claimant also put up a tent under the banner of Border Sangharsh Committee.
APP supporters and local men had entered into a scuffle over Khaira's refusal to meet the other group, in which a cop trying to clear way for Khaira’s vehicle was manhandled. The alleged accused can be easily identified from the photographs and video circulated in the media following the incident.
Mohinder Singh is the Investigating Officer (IO) in the case.
Meanwhile, the Border Sangharsh Committee on Tuesday removed the tent put up without permission at venue of dharna after the notice served by DSP HQ Manmohan Singh and DSP Jaspal Singh.
Comrade Hansa Singh and others said that since the matter is sub-judice, only the court can now take the decision on the disputed land issue.
