A one-minute long phone call made by the NZ Minister of Transport to his staffer on a domestic flight plane after the doors had closed in preparation for take-off, has landed New Zealand’s Minister of Transport in trouble.
As his action of making a phone call on a plane was a breach of Civil Aviation Rules regarding the use of electronic devices on aeroplanes, Phil Twyford, Minister of Transport, has unreservedly apologised and tendered his resignation to the Prime Minister today.

Jacinda Arden, PM, however, has not accepted his resignation but she has taken away his Civil Aviation Authority portfolio and given it to the Associate Transport Minister.
