Chandigarh, June 13, 2018: Online property registration in the state has been a big success. Barely six months after the Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh launched this pilot project in November last, the state government has implemented online property registration system in 79 offices of 13 districts.
This people-friendly paperless transaction has been lapped up by the people as it increases transparency in the property registration process.
A spokesperson of the Revenue Department said 52859 documents had been registered online till the last week of May through the NGDRS online property registration system. This was a clear indication of the people’s faith in the people’s Chief Minister promise to provide hassle-free services to them.
The cloud-based National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) rolled out by the State Revenue Department has been accepted by the people who have registered more than 52,000 documents online in a short span of time.
The online property registration facility has been created in the NGDRS portal, which is running successfully in the districts of SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Faridkot, Pathankot, Kapurthala, Bathinda, Fazilka, Patiala, SBS Nagar, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Ferozepur and Mansa. It is also available at Tehsil level in Moga and sub-tehsil level at Adampur in Jalandhar.
Mohali leads the districts, with 17497 online registries. The number of online registries in other districts is as follows: 3100 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 3066 in Rupnagar, 4547 in Kapurthala, 3674 in Faridkot, 1757 in Pathankot, 5354 in Bathinda, 1474 in Fazilka, 4902 in Patiala, 613 in SBS Nagar, 1681 in Sri Muktsar Sahib, 293 in Ferozepur, 166 in Mansa, 3503 in Moga, 1232 in Adampur.
The switch-over from manual to online property registration has been smooth. The Consumer confidence has increased and the project is making a clear headway. Soon, it will be initiated in the remaining districts of the State.
How does this system work?
Online Property Registration System is very simple and citizen friendly, which provides an online interface to the citizens to enter data related to Registration and uploading of property documents 24X7, enables automatic calculation of Stamp Duty, Registration fees and other fees based on Collector Rates. The citizens receive SMS alerts at Data Submission, Appointment and Completion of Registration, eliminating the scope of fraud. Further, the online appointment system gives flexibility to the citizens to choose their date of appointment for the registration.
