Ferozepur, June 18, 2018: The uninterrupted power supply to the farmers looks to be distance On a call from Bharti Kisan Union Krantikari Punjab, the farmers under the leadership of Baljit Singh Shehzadi, President Block Ghall Ghurd, today staged the protest in front of the Powercom office at Ferozeshah demanding uninterrupted power supply. The regular power supply to the farmers still looks to be a distant dream for the farmers. The protest was organized in the districts of Moga, Faridkot, Bhatinda and Ferozepur.
Addressing the protesters Avtar Singh President said, the Capt government had promised in its election manifesto to provide the uninterrupted power supply for 16 hours, but the government has backed out from its given words.
The leader said, there is a shortage of staff at the Sub-stations and one JE is looking after the three feeder points. In the event of any fault, the power supply remains cut off and the farmers had to face a lot of problem at the start of the sowing season.
He suggested that Powercom should arrange the staff privately as a stop-gap-arrangement so that there is no problem to look after the faults for power supply without any break. He further said that in the event of any fault on a particular day, the extra power supply should be given on the next day besides making arrangement for replacement of faulty transformer.
If our genuine demands are not met, then the government can do nothing better for us. We will be forced to follow the path of protest by intensifying the agitation if our demands are not met at the earliest, he said.
