RSS delegation with Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma in New Delhi on Monday
Meghalaya CM assures complete security to Sikhs in Shillon: Dr Shastry
New Delhi, June 18, 2018: Sangh Parivar frontal organisation Rashtriya Sikh Sangat (RSS) delegation called on Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on the issue of recent violence against the Sikhs residing in Shillong.
The president of the RSS Gurcharan Singh Gill led the delegation comprising national vice-president Devender Singh Gujral, general secretary Dr Avtar Singh Shastry and Devender Singh Sahni.
The delegation members thanked the CM for dealing with the situation in an efficient and effective manner. They requested him to find ways to permanently resolve the nagging issue pertaining to the Sikh community in the manner that they do not feel alienated there.
Dr Shastry claimed that the CM assured the delegation that he would strive to resolve the issue amicably by talking all parties involved in it into confidence. The CM also said that security and safety of every citizen of Meghalaya was the top priority of his government.
Over 100 police personnel were injured; 20 of them seriously. One policeman sustained serious head injury caused by petrol bomb. But the police force ensured that no harm was done to any Sikh in the state.
