DFO Vikram Singh Kundra tightens noose around encroachers
Removes 45 year old encroachment of forest land

Kapurthala, 19 June, 2018: Team of forest department led by a young IFS officer, Vikram Singh Kundra, who is serving as Divisional Forest officer at Jalandhar have launched a drive to free the forest land from the illegal encroachers. He himself is leading the operation.
On Monday, the DFO led team conducted an encroachment removal drive in Sultanpur Lodhi area, which is a part of Jalandhar forest division. A team of more than 200 forest officials, facing stiff opposition from local leaders and politicians successfully removed 50 acres of land. A strong police contingent of 130 police personnel accompanied the forest team.
It is noteworthy here that this land was under encroachment from last more than 45 years, but the department could not remove the encroachment.
After the successful operation of removal of the encroachment, the whole area was demarcated and boundary pillars along with barbed wire fencing was done to prevent any attempt of re- encroachment of the land.
Speaking to babushahi.com on this occasion, beaming Vikram Singh Kundra, Divisional Forest Officer, Jalandhar said “We successfully reclaimed the Forest land despite serious opposition from certain quarters and soon plantation will be done on this land to improve the green cover in the district and more such encroachment removal drives will be conducted in future ".
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Secretary, Sukhwant Singh Brar appreciating the work of the forest officer said “DFO Vikram Singh Kundra is doing laudable work. We fully support his efforts to free forest land from the clutches of unscrupulous elements”.
