Indianapolis, July 16, 2018: More than 600 cyclists, including Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, participated in the 2018 IN/KY District Criterium Championships organized in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis here. The IU Health Indy Criterium drew racers from across the Midwest. It provided cyclists a unique opportunity to race the city streets that they would rarely do otherwise.
Cash prizes worth $ 12,000 were distributed amont the winners.
According to the organisers the Highlights of the Indy Bicycle Festival Criterium :- $12,000 Cash Purse.
$1,000 in Primes gift certificates generously donated by Circle City Bicycles.
Juniors raced free thanks to the support of our friends at Westfield Cycle Sports and Singleton Coaching.
Equal prize payout for Elite Men and Women.

The VIP/Celebrity Race was an exciting four-person relay race on Pacers Bikeshare bicycles. Each member of the team raced one block, including a quarter loop around Monument Circle, and then hands off the bike to their respective teammate. Think Little 500 on Pacers Bikeshare bicycles. Mayor Joe Hogestt participated in this event.
During the race at the 'cycle exchange area' a particpant 'hit' another cyclist and tumbled on the ground. However, he escaped any injury.
Spectators lined up on both sides of the streets to cheer the local media personalities, celebrities and business leaders as they battled it out for fame and glory in this fun 15-minute race. There were 12 teams in the fray for this event.
The victorious team was presented with a traveling trophy during the the official podium ceremony on center stage.
Start/finish line was on Meridian Street between Monument Circle and Ohio.
The Indy Criterium offered a vibrant urban race scene featuring popular food vendors, beer, and festivities among thousands of screaming fans along Monument Circle. The race course runs clockwise, allowing for a long, sprint finish towards the monument.
