Minister Cautioned The People From The Nefarious Designs Of The Divisive Forces

The Industries and Commerce Minister, Sunder Sham Arora hoisted the tricolour here at the district level Independence Day function organised at ITI Grounds on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, while paying tributes to the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for attaining freedom for the country, the Minister cautioned the people from the nefarious designs of the forces, which had been trying to sabotage unity in diversity of the country by playing politics of caste, religion and region.
Exhorting the people to come forward to wipe out the stigma of drug addiction, the Minister, said that the Chief Minister , Capt. Amarinder Singh, had launched various drives including, "DAPO", "Buddy Programme", "Tandrust Punjab", "Ghar Ghar Hariyali" with missionary zeal to bring back the lost glory, progress and prosperity of Punjab.
With a view to convert the drive against drug abuse into virtual mass movement, the Punjab Government, has launched " Buddy Programme" in the schools , today. Under it, the students from the very beginning of teen age would not only be made aware about the ill effects of the drug abuse but would also be galvanised into ambassadors to spread the message in their vicinity.
The minister also disbursed loan waiver certificates pertaining to commercial banks worth Rs. 1.01 crore among the beneficiaries to fulfill the pre -poll promise of waiving of farmers loans. During the first phase, the loans amounting to Rs.72 crore of the farmers of the SBS Nagar district had been waived off and in the second phase the loans drawn from Commercial banks had been waived off, said the minister.
The Minister also announced the grant amounting to Rs. 5 Crore for completing construction work of the District Administrative Complex. The Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh , would soon dedicate the District Administrative Complex to the public, he added.
Sunder Sham Arora, while enumerating achievements of the Industries Department, said that to fulfill the promise of providing cheap power facility to the industry, subsidy amounting to Rs. 1240 crore was granted to ensure power supply at the rate of Rs.5 per unit to the industrial units under the Indsutrial Policy 2017-18 in Punjab. Later, talking with media persons, the Minister also disclosed that a comprehensive plan of setting up industrial units to boost industrial entrepreneurship as well as employment generation in SBS Nagar district had been chalked out.
The Minister also honoured the persons who have excelled in different field, freedom fighters and disbursed sewing machines, tricycles and the benefits of MGVSY scheme to needy.
He also visited the Doaba Kushat Ashram and Blood Donors Complex. He annouced a grant of Rs. one lakh to the Doaba Kushat Ashram.
Earlier, the Minister visited Khatkar Kalan and paid floral tributes to the great martyrs. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Bublani, SSP, Deepak Hilori, MLAs Angad Singh and Darshan Lal Mangupur, former MLA, Guriqbal Kaur, among others.
