Ferozepur August 19, 2018: On 19 Aug 2018, Border Security Force troops successfully seized approx. 06 kg of contraband suspected to be heroin-filled in 06 Nos of plastic cold drink bottles (02 ltr each) tied with a wooden stick in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Joginder, Ex-118 Bn BSF, Sector Abohar.
Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border and heightened activities of smugglers/ Anti-National Elements on border, Sh Mukul Goel, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check the activities of Anti - National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, Deputy Inspector General, Sector BSF Abohar directed Field Commanders to maintain extra vigil on the border to thwart the attempts of Anti- National Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers/ Anti-National Elements.
On 19 Aug 2018 at about 0720 hrs, while performing the duties, Border Security Force troops in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Joginder, Ex-118 Bn BSF, Sector Abohar recovered 06 Nos of plastic cold drink bottles (02 ltr each) tied with a wooden stick from River Sutlej which was flowing from Pak side to India side with the flow of water. On checking the bottles, approx. 06 kg of contraband suspected to be heroin was recovered.
Vigilant troops of BSF once again thwarted the attempt of Anti-National Elements to push the consignment of contraband items into India. During the year 2018, BSF has affected under mentioned seizures on Punjab Border:- Heroin: 176.270 Kg (including today’s seizure of approx. 06 Kg) Opium: 435 gms Indian border crosser apprehended: 55 Nos. Indian smugglers apprehended: 05 Nos PAK SIM Cards: 22 Nos. Pak smugglers interdicted: 02 Nos Pak smuggler apprehended: 04 Nos Weapons (Different Types): 16 Nos Ammunition (Various Calibers): 448 Rds Pak Mobile: 07 Nos Hand Grenade : 0
