Patiala Blind murder case solved, two arrested
Chandigarh, October 11, 2018 : In a major breakthrough, the organized crime control unit (OCCU) of Punjab Police has solved the sensational murder of Darbara Singh Seona of 21 No. Phatak Road, Patiala who was shot dead on September 12, 2008 by unknown assailants.
A case of murder was registered in Police Station Civil Lines, Patiala City in this regard.
For the past ten years investigation in the case had been conducted by various units of Punjab Police. Since the case was undetected until now, the OCCU team took over the investigation which was supervised by AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and AIG Sandeep Goel.
Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, IGP Intelligence (OCCU) told that the deceased Darbara Singh was a Punjabi columnist and General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal International. During the investigation, it was found out that the motive behind the murder was a family dispute. Since Darbara Singh Seona had written a controversial article in a vernacular newspaper, prior investigations suspected the involvement of some radical elements in his murder.
IGP Intelligence(OCCU) further stated that two suspects Daljit Singh of Gurmat Colony Sullar road Patiala and Pushpinder Singh Tau of village Nimnabad in Zind district of Haryana, now resident of Khanouri Mandi, Sangrur, were intensively questioned in this case who confessed the crime and revealed the names of other culprits including a notorious gangster and proclaimed offender Amanpreet Singh aka Jeeta Jalandhrea of Mithupur Road Jalandhar.
Efforts are being made to nab the remaining culprits.
