Chandigarh, October 21, 2018: 1925 Assistant professors of 136 aided colleges organized State level Rally on 21 October 2018 under the banner of 1925 aided colleges teacher front (Punjab). These assistant professors from different parts of Punjab reached baradari, near Fuhara Chownk Patiala. PCCTU and some other unions also reached there in support of these teachers. They said that after getting Ph.D., M.Phil. degrees, UGC NET qualification they are getting only 21600 basic pay from more than three years, Government was supposed to regularized them in 30 June 2018, but till date government has not issued letter of regularization with full scale. These Assistant Professors have told to the media that due to 10 years of ban on recruitment in these 136 colleges since 2005, quality of education was suffering a lot. In this connection PIL was filed in Punjab and Haryana High Court. Hon’ble Court ordered Punjab government to fill these posts. Panjab Government appointed these teachers on contractual basis rather than regular appointments and that too on mere basic pay without any allowances / benefits. Recruitment on contractual basis was against the rules of UGC Regulations, 2010. These teachers were appointed after screening by a Committee constituted in accordance with the UGC Regulationson merit basis and issued appointment letters and approvals by the concerned Universities and State Government.
After a long discussion with union leaders Patiala administration along with SDM Patiala have facilitated to fix full panel official meeting with Higher education minister Mrs. Rajia Sultana on 30/10/2018 at 11am at Chandigarh office. Along with this they announced their next action plan in the presence of all official and press that if their legitimate demands are not fulfilled in the meeting they will be forced to sit on Hunger strike and Marn Wart from 04/11/2018. They will celebrate KALI DIWALI in Patiala.
During this protest they also given contribution to the affected person in the tragedy of Amritsar. One donation box was there and all the members given donations. Their one team was in Amritsar to extend any help to the patients of this accident.
