Fatehgarh Sahib, December 10, 2018: Baba Moti Ram Mehra memorial Trust, Mehra community and the Sikh Sangat have strongly resented the move of the state government to classify Moti Ram Mehra memorial constructed at the cost of Rs.5.7 crore adjoining to Thanda Burj in Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib as park instead of memorial.
Jai Krishan and Jaswant Singh members of the trust said that it is unfortunate that Govt. has converted the memorial into park and it has become a haven for youngsters, college boys and girls, couples, who remain sitting there in obscene manner violating the sanctity of the memorial and hurt the sentiments of community.
Nirmal Singh SS, Chairman of the Trust said that the then Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had promised that Govt. will erect memorial of Baba Moti Ram Mehra and all the incidents related to life of Moti Ram Mehra and his sacrifices for the Sikh community and particularly of Younger Sahibjadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Gujri Ji will be displayed, so that the communing generation may know about the history of Moti Ram Mehra. He said it is unfortunate that Capt. Govt. has developed it as park and no space has been providing depicting the history of Baba Moti Ram Mehra rather it became a meeting point of youngsters. He said that is no main entry gate of the memorial and no sign board has been placed informing about the memorial.
They urged the State Govt. to remove all the anomalies and short comings before inaugurating the memorial
