New Delhi, December 11, 2018: Fierce electoral battle is on between BJP and Congress to stake claim to form government in Madhya Pradesh.
As the trends of the results are pouring in, Congress is leading in 110 seats whereas BJP is leading on 107 and BSP in 6 seats.
As of now, the neck and neck race seems to indicate prospects of a hung Assembly.
The voting for 230 seats of the state Assembly was held along with four other states including Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telegana and Mizoram.
The performance of the Congress as indicated by the trends of the results so far is quite encouraging this time as it has piped the ruling BJP to the second spot.
The BJP has been in power in the state for last 15 years.
Political analysts are, however, keeping their fingers crossed as to which party will finally stake claim to form the government as the finallty tally will take some time to emerge after the counting comes to an end.
In Rajasthan too, Congress is emerging is the single largest party with trends in 95 seats being in its favour out of the total 199 at stake.
The BJP, which was in power in the outgoing Assembly, is giving a close fight with lead in 85 seats. The BSP is distant third with 3 seats.
Here too, the analysts see chances of a hung Assembly though the initial trends showed Congress taking a clear lead but the trend changed drastically as the counting of votes progressed.
The final picture will clear soon as the counting ends.
