Ludhiana, December 31, 2018: Ludhiana district recorded 75.36% votes in the Panchayat elections, which saw 741610 voters out of total 984133 registered voters, exercising their right to franchise.
Till the filing of this report, results of almost all villages were announced.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that in block Dehlon 80.63%, in block Doraha 79.10%, in block Jagraon 71.75%, in block Khanna 85.34%, in block Ludhiana-1 64.85%, in block Ludhiana-2 72.82%, in block Machhiwara 82.66%, in block Malaud 85.83%, in block Pakhowal 76.35%, in block Raikot 74.65%, in block Samrala 81.52%, in block Sidhwan Bet 82.52% and in block Sudhar 70.98% votes were polled today.
A total of 1286 polling booths were set up in Ludhiana district and around 8000 polling staff were deputed on these booths. He said that 156 polling booths were declared hyper sensitive while 324 as sensitive out of the total polling booths in Ludhiana district.
Agrawal stated that 192 out of total 941 panchayats of Ludhiana district have already been chosen unanimously, whereas 226 Sarpanches and 3059 panches in the district have been chosen unopposed.
He thanked the candidates, voters, supporters and media for peaceful conduct of these elections.
