Gurdaspur, March 20,2019: Where on one hand there is ongoing tussle between government authorities and farmers for the rates of compensation of the land required for construction of Kartarpur corridor, on the other hand there is a farmer who on Wednesday donated 16.5 acres of his land without any conditions.
Following the teachings of first Sikh master Guru Nanak Dev, a farmer donated 16.5 acres of land for the construction of Kartarpur Corridor. Lakha Singh a resident of village Pakho-ke-Tahli and former Sarpanch is the one who has donated his land without any conditions.
It may be pertinent to mention that the land Lakha Singh donated holds special importance due to its location. The land is adjoining to zero line on the side of India where the corridor has to be made.
“I have given consent for 16.5 acres of my land following the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji. No conditions have been kept for the same as the land is meant to be the important part of corridor that leads to Darbar Sahib gurudwara in Kartarpur Sahib. I followed the teachings of my guru”, said Lakha Singh while talking to Babushahi.com.
Meanwhile with the donation of this land the construction of Kartarpur Corridor has begun on Indian side too. On the other hand negotiations between the farmers and government authorities are underway to acquire the remaining mandatory land.
Though Lakha Singh has not kept any conditions against offering the land, whether he gets something in return can be answered later.
