Chandigarh April 02, 2019: Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal today described the Congress Manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha poll as “ directionless, desperate, dishonest and a web of wild and false promises.' “This is the manifesto of a party whose leaders tell outrageous and brazen lies to the people under oath of the sacred "charan" of ‘Panth de Vaali’ Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj. The people of Punjab as well as in the rest of the country know that this is a document of the political desperadoes who are out on a lying spree. What happened to their promises made by Captain Amarinder Singh to the “Sangat” by holding the sacred Gurbani in hand and facing the Holy Takht of ‘Dasmesh Pita” ( the Tenth Master) , Sri Damdama Sahib and swearing by
the sacred ‘charan of Guru Gobind Singh ji ? This bitter experience with the sacrilege committed by the Sikh Congress Chief Minister has taught the people that not a single word in the Congress manifesto can be trusted,” said Mr Badal in his statement released to the media here this evening.
Mr Badal said that the wild and irresponsible nature of the promises in the Congress manifesto merely reveals the state of desperation which has hit the minds of the leaders of that party. “ Rahul Gandhi knows that his game is up. In sheer desperation, he is promising things which he himself knows he will not have to fulfil because there is no chance of his forming the government at the centre. Even the Opposition parties dislike him,” said Mr Badal.
Mr Badal said that he was amazed to see how “insensitive and heartless” the Congress can be to the Sikh sentiments. “There is not s single word of regret over the massacre of thousands of innocent Sikhs by Congress goons in 1984. To rub salt in the festering Sikh wounds, Priyanka Gandhi chose the company of and proudly got herself photographed with Kamal Nath, one of the main accused in the massacreof the Sikhs”, while flaunting "this web of lies and false promises."
Mr Badal said that the Nyaya scheme of Rs 72000 per annum and other subsidies to every poor family promised by the Congress will cost the exchequer roughly Rs. 6 lakh crores. And the Congress does not tell where this huge amount of money will come from. Does the Congresspropose to impose harsh new taxes or will it deny salaries to the defence forces and employees to raise this money? Or will they stop all public sector development programmes? The fact is that Congress knows it is promising castles in the air to the people whom they believe to be ignorant. But the moth-eaten party is again in for a
shock,” said Mr Badal. Ridiculing the Congress promise to fill 10 lakh vacancies in village Panchayats, Mr Badal asked, “Does Rahul even know that
Panchayati Raj is a State Subject and only the state governments can take decisions on their vacancies? It is hard to believe that an economist like Dr. Manmohan Singh would ever put his signatures on such a wild lie. Was he even consulted? Similarly, Mr Badal said that the Congress promises 6% of "GDP" for education also reveals utter ignorance, or an attempt to deceive the people. Does no one in the Congress know that the government expenditure comes from the Budget, and not from the GDP ? But when they are on a lying spree, they just couldn't care less. This "Kuchh bhi Bol do, chalega " attitude sums up the political style of Mr Rahul Gandhi and his party,” said Mr Badal.
