Huge fake currency notes seized before election in Bihar
Chhapra, Apr 04 (UNI) Ahead of Lok Sabha election in Bihar, police seized fake currency notes worth Rs 5.23 lakh and arrested five peddlers at Bhakhura Bhitthi village under Baniapur police station area in Saran district late last night.
Saran police superintendent Har Kishore Rai said here today that the fake currency notes were seized from the hideout of peddlers on the basis of specific intelligence input. He said that five peddlers who were arrested from the spot during interrogation revealed that the fake currency notes were meant for their circulation in the election.
Mr Rai said the peddlers claimed that they were in the illegal business of printing fake currency notes for the last one month and pumped fake currency notes worth Rs one crore into grey markets of West Bengal and Assam. He said a printer, blank paper and uncut currency notes were recovered from the spot.
An intensive interrogation of outlaws is on to nab other members of their gang, the SP added.
