Chandigarh, April 17,2019: Media Action for Human Rights Protection has asked the Election Commission of India to conduct dope tests of candidates contesting in upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The association has demanded that the rule to get dope test done should be extended to assembly as well as general elections.
“Punjab has been defamed by politicians who claim that 70 percent of population in the state is addicted to drugs. Now it should be made mandatory that these politicians themselves prove that they are not addicts”, states association in its letter addressed to CEO.
A deputation of the association will be meeting Punjab CEO on Thursday to press this demand.
Also they have demanded to bring election manifestoes of various parties under the ambit of law. "Those parties which fail to fulfill the promises post their victory in elections should be de recognised", demanded the association.
