Bengaluru, April 22, 2019: (UNI) The Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka has confirmed the death of five people from Karnataka in Sunday’s serial blasts in the island country in which more than 290 people were killed and another 500 injured.
Karnataka Chief Secretary Vijaya Bhaskar, informed newsmen here on Monday, that the state government had received information about the death of five people, from Karnataka, who had gone to Sri Lanka, on holiday trip, recently.
He said that the names of the deceased are including Rangappa, Laxminarayan, Hanumantharayappa, Chandrashekhar and Ramesh, and all arrangements are being made to bring the bodies to the state.
He also informed that the whereabouts of another two persons, who were also accompanied the deceased to the Sri Lanka on tour, not known.
Meanwhile, the state government has appointed senior IAS officer Anjum Parvez as the Nodal Officer to co-ordinate with the Sri Lankan Authorities as well as with the Indian Embassy, to help the families of the victims.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, had condoled the death of five persons, from Karnataka in the Sri Lanka serial blasts.
